When you think of Nashville, Alternative isn’t usually the first genre that comes to mind, but In Color are defying expectations with their debut single, ‘Headlights’.
Although they’ve been best friends for years and have made music individually, it wasn’t until late 2024 that the Nashville-based members Matt Hastings, Val Hoyt, Holden Clontz, and Miles Laderman decided to put their talents together and form a band. Citing The Smashing Pumpkins, Wilco, and Radiohead as a few of their musical influences, they stated that they’re “big fans of that 90s/early 2000s alt-rock nostalgic sound”.
Describing ‘Headlights’, the band says it’s “a song about the longing that two people can feel to be together, despite a distance that can’t be bridged.” Adding, “We’re excited to see the way people interpret our songs in their own ways.”
