TURNSTILE – “SEEIN’ STARS” | Song of the Week
Drifting away from their usual hardcore sound, Turnstile brings a dreamy, funk-inspired groove to your latest PEAK Song of the Week with ‘SEEIN’ STARS’.
Emphasizing feeling over direct explanation, ‘SEEIN’ STARS’ melody feels like floating through space. The sparse, looping lyrics allude to a metaphor for the confusing, unending cycle of a bad relationship. You’re lost, left in the dark, and, like a punch to the face, you’re left folded over, seeing stars – only to repeat the cycle.
‘SEEIN’ STARS’ was an ‘all hands on deck’ project for Turnstile. Vocalist Brendan Yates and guitarist Pat McCrory shared in directing the music video, while Paramore’s Hayley Williams and Dev Hynes (Blood Orange) contributed additional vocals. Of the collaboration, Yates says the band was “just throwing paint at the wall” while Hayley was “decorating our song with her angelic voice; it was really special.”
After wading through the darkness, Turnstile illuminates your PEAK Song of the Week with ‘SEEIN’ STARS’.
