YUNGBLUD – “Zombie” | Song of the Week

YUNGBLUD serves your heart-wrenching PEAK Song of the Week with ‘Zombie‘.

Starring the indelible Florence Pugh, ‘Zombie’s music video is an ode to both the sick and the healers. Self-described as his favourite song off his latest album ‘Idols’, YUNGBLUD’s goal was to share the “fundamental experience” of witnessing his grandparents’ health deteriorate, and their own struggle to reach out when it was already too late.

In his own words: “It’s about the feeling of deterioration and ugliness; shutting out the world and the people we love out of the fear of becoming a burden or an embarrassment. We all want someone or something to comfort us, no matter how we are right now or who we become in the future. But it’s fucking scary. …For the video, I wanted to do a direct portrayal of what a nurse goes through, because we take them for granted—they’re so understaffed and underfunded, and the NHS is a bedrock for why our country is great.”
