Four years in the making and fresh off his new album of the same name, it’s ‘oh yeah?’ by Steve Lacy.
Discussing his expanded lyricism, Lacy stated, “I’ve gotten a little bit more intense in all parts, I guess.” Compared to his previous records, where he “just wanted the beat to hit and the chorus to be cute.” With this album, Lacy was determined to take his time bringing his writing to a new level, even if that meant many rounds of revisions. “Three times!” He stated with a bemused laugh, “I thought I had it, and God was like, ‘Nope!'”
But ‘oh yeah?’ was finally ready and released to the world last month – already racking up over 70 million streams in less than six weeks. And now here it is as your PEAK Song of the Week – Steve Lacy with ‘oh yeah?’
