Grooving into Monday morning with a sunny new single by The Strokes – ‘Going Shopping’.
Just ahead of their first Coachella performance in 15 years, The Strokes sent 100 fans a copy of the new song via cassette tape.
Lyrically, frontman Julian Casablancas goes back and forth between the virtues of a quiet country life and the addictive chaos (and shopping malls) of the urban jungle. “The worse reality gets, the less you wanna hear about it,” philosophizes a heavily auto-tuned Casablancas, “Solidarity can be difficult / When you got cool stuff to lose”.
A follow-up to their 2020 album, ‘The New Abnormal’, The Strokes’ first new project in six years, ‘Reality Awaits’, releases June 26th.
