Get to know September’s PEAK Artist of the Month – Ahshï!
With dreamy 90’s indie girl vibes, BIPOC artist Ahshï delivers all the feels while painting pictures with her music. Inspired by her heritage, she sheds light on life as an Asian Canadian through her songs and represents her family in her artist image. We get to know the real and authentic Ahshï as she plays our heartstrings, sharing her songs of love, heartbreak, death, and growing up, but all with a new perspective. When she’s on stage, you can expect a quirky, funny, and brilliant show. She’s real and like a friend that has a sweet Spotify.
At nine years old, Ahshï auditioned for YTV’s The Next Star and hasn’t looked back since. She made it five rounds up until the contract stage, but they were looking for a 13-year-old, and she was not that. Ahshï started performing immediately – Good Day Sunshine Cafe in South Surrey, BC held a locally known open mic and young Ahshï was a regular. From carpool karaoke with her mom singing Shania Twain and Martina McBride, little Ahshï started performing on larger stages at Calgary Stampede, PNE… and is now performing festivals and opening for touring acts.
Fun fact: since childhood, Ahshï used to have this one ring that she would wear for every performance – until she lost that ring three times, with the last being at Night and Day Restaurant after a show. She wanted to have a tradition. She even had (dare I say) a fedora phase, but maybe it’s her bubbly energy that’s tradition.
Ahshï is our PEAK BC Artist of the Month for September! Check out her song, ‘(i like my) world small’, and hear it all month long on THE PEAK!
