The Top Five Concerts We Missed In 2020
1. Rage Against The Machine – May 1st – Pacific Coliseum
One of the biggest reunion tours of all time was postponed this year! Rage was set to reunite for the first time since July 2011. A protest band, touring during the year of an American election. Wonder what they would’ve had to say!
Run The Jewels was slated to open the show as well.
Good news – The show is rescheduled for June 19th 2021! Fingers crossed.
2. Tame Impala – August 5th – Rogers Arena
Hot off a new album “The Slow Rush” and a year of headlining festivals across the globe, including Coachella, Tame Impala was supposed to bring their psychedelic-confetti-cannon-laser-light show experience to Vancouver this year.
The supporting act? Khruangbin. Never heard of them? Well you should definitely check them out.
Good news – The show is rescheduled for August 4th 2021! Pinky toes crossed.
3. Billie Eilish – April 11th – Rogers Arena
The queen anti-pop star was one of the first show cancellations, pre-lockdown. The April 11th date was originally just postponed, before being flat out cancelled. She was hot off a record Grammy winning night where she took home a total of five awards, and became the youngest person and first female artist to win all top four awards at the Grammy’s.
Unfortunately we don’t have a new date for this show, yet…
4. Tool – May 31st – Rogers Arena
It wasn’t TECHNICALLY a reunion show, because they never TECHNICALLY broke up. But after releasing their first album in 13 years, Tool was set to return to Vancouver to play some classics, and mix in some new music from their new album ‘Fear Inoculum’. Including the song ‘7empest’ which won the Grammy for best metal performance of the year.
Lynch was upset that he bought edibles for “no reason”.
Unfortunately there’s no new date for this show either.
5. The Lumineers – September 8th – Rogers Arena
Gloria? Life In The City? Salt and the Sea? Just a couple hits off the bands third studio album. Before postponing their “Lumineers III – The World Tour” shows we were excited to grab some suspenders and do the hipster sway with everyone.
The band was also snubbed out of a Grammy this year because they changed the eligibility dates. The Grammys shifted the date for qualification from September 30th, the end of August. The album was dropped September 13th, thus, they were ruled out.
This show is still listed as postponed with “TBA” in the date column.
We’re looking forward to getting concerts back, but what shows did we miss on this list? Let us know!
