Paul Simon Announces Final Shows

Paul Simon is the latest iconic artist to announce that his upcoming tour will be his last through a message on his Facebook Page this morning. Apparently there are 50 ways to leave your lover and 29 ways to say goodbye to your legacy of fans.
Those 29 ways are 29 concerts across North America and Europe. His “Homeward Bound — The Farewell Tour” starts here in Vancouver May 16th and will wrap July 15th at the Hyde Park BST Festival in London.
His career spans six decades, includes 14 top-10 singles in the US, 16 Grammys, and two inductions into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame [once solo, once as member of Simon and Garfunkel]. He wrote some of the most definable songs of the ’60’s and ’70’s including “50 Ways To Leave Your Lover,” “You Can Call Me Al,” “Kodachrome,” “Mrs. Robinson,” and “The Sound of Silence.” One of both mine and James’ favourite albums is Simon’s “Graceland” from the ’80’s which used music from South Africa and won an album of the year Grammy.
He does mention that this doesn’t mean he will never PLAY again as he “anticipate[s] doing the occasional performance in a (hopefully) acoustically pristine hall, and to donate those earnings to various philanthropic organizations, particularly those whose objective is to save the planet, ecologically.”
Read the full statement below and if you’re a fan and also lucky you’ll be at the show May 16th in Vancouver!
