Gord Downie has travelled to every corner of our great country. You know he did, when you heard his songs, and had to google places in Canada, that you didn’t know existed. Cape Spear, is a place I know know well, thanks to the song Silver Jet. Or Bobcaygeon,I had no idea that was a place in Ontario. Of course when I drove through that town, I started singing Bobcaygeon.
Gord taught us a lot about our vast land of Canada, he played many a town, city, and festival, with The Hip and on his solo albums.
Do you remember the first time you saw Gord? Mine was at T-bird Stadium, UBC in 1992, for a Great Canadian Party Concert sponsored by a beer company. It was July 1 1992. They played Halifax, Barrie and Vancouver ALL in one Day for our then 125th birthday. Let me know the first time you saw Gord.
Thanks youtube, I found a clip from that first show.
