We were lucky to chat with Max Kerman of Arkells about life of being awesome and their new record Morning Report. He called us up and joined us for fun in our Mill Street Brewery Studio. They’re back in Vancouver on February 1st at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre!
Fun things we learned:
Their must-do things while on tour [if you know of any Vancouver barbershops, tweet at Arkells on Twitter @arkellsmusic and tag @thepeak!]
Max on the best first line in a song [any guesses?] and the favourite first line in one of their songs.
Max on writing songs that are out of his comfort zone and not just him being a mopey white dude walking around all day. [Shoutout to Tyler of Vancouver band Said The Whale!].
A not-so shocking revelation: Max loves The Boss [Bruce Springsteen, obvs]. He was shocked while reading his autobiography “Born To Run” that Bruce doesn’t like coffee. Listen to one of Max’s shocking revelations here.
Throwback to that awesome Arkells sing-along at the Squamish Valley Music Festival [RIP] at our PEAK Green Room two years back:
