This week at Beer Club . . .
On Friday, April 28th we’re trying Trading Post Brewing’s Dear James S.M.A.S.H. Saison and West Coast IPA

TASTING NOTES

Dear James S.M.A.S.H. Saison  OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Dear James refers to a letter written to HBC Chief Trader James Murray Yale, urging him not to marry a woman for whom he had been enamoured with during his first years at the fort. Ignoring the outrageous pleas, James married the woman he loved and fathered two daughters with her.

Known as the quintessential artisanal brew, this farmhouse style Saison, has notes of apricots, citrus and spice. Brewed using Bohemian pilsner malt and Mosaic hops, this complex and refreshing beer shimmers a golden straw colour and is perfect for farmers.

ABV: 6.5%

IBU: 26

Crafted in the West Coast tradition, this Special IPA is brewed with Superior Pilsner malt, 6 different hop varieties and 3 dry hop additions. Flavours of tropical fruit, pomelo and grapefruit evolve into pine and resin bitterness on the finish. Balanced by a medium malt body, this is West Coast IPA at its finest.

ABV: 6.3%

IBU: 61

About Trading Post Brewing

Started by Lance Verhoeff – He lived in Vancouver, fell in love with the brewing scene and then when he moved back to Langley he realised that there was nothing like that here, so decided to open his own.  Trading Post Brewing is the first and only craft brewery in Langley – they have only been open for a year, but their brewer Tony has over 25 years experience brewing!

The Brewery is in Downtown Langley and they have the Taphouse & Eatery in Fort Langley. The Brewery has 8 beers on tap at all times – 5 core beers (Helles Lager, Rye Amber Ale, SMASH Saison, Breakfast Stout, West Coast IPA) and three rotator taps (Fruit beer, Belgian style beer and IPA.
