“How I feel like a stranger here. Searching for something that’s disappeared.”
New music from Seattle sweethearts Death Cab For Cutie dropped today!
“Gold Rush” is the first taste of their upcoming album Thank You For Today due August 17th. Ben Gibbard sings about looking for “gold” in his old neighbourhood but struggles against the gentrification of it [we here in Vancouver cannot relate to that at all]. A timely tune about redevelopment and pushing people out of their homes that perfectly sums up millennial life.
“And they keep digging down, down/ So that their cars can live underground/The swinging of a wrecking ball /Through these lathe and plaster walls.”
