More ’80’s Remakes: A Re-Vamped Flight Of The Navigator is Coming
Flight of the Navigator is set to fly again.
Thanks to Stranger Things and It, anything that is sci-fi or worthy of giving 80’s kids a healthy dose of remake nostalgia is hot.
A new one has entered the game from the same era that inspired those two hits: the 1986 kid-meets-aliens adventure called Flight of the Navigator is getting a remake. According to The Hollywood Reporter the remake will be produced by the Henson Co. who will no doubt bring their puppet expertise to help craft the movie’s cast of alien and robot characters.
The original film, a Disney release, is about a 12-year-old Florida kid who goes missing in 1978 and turns up in 1986, having not aged a day. The reason: aliens who need his help to fix their broken ship so they can return home, no thanks to the interference of NASA along the way. Who knows if they’ll change the story for the remake, but you can watch the original trailer below and stream the entire film in HD on a rainy day to get caught up.
